FUTURE IN QUESTION !

Disclaimer: This post is not meant for hurting anyone. Feel free to criticize. All kind of comments are most welcome

Uff…at last I managed to post something again. A lengthy read, hope you will be there until the end. Well, this blog is all about describing where we all ‘might’ be after a decade or half. Even though am very sad to say this I am sure this Bangalore IT boom is going to  fill some part of your pocket  and you don’t have to worry thinking that you are jobless. However, is that really what you wanted???

Not to discourage you, but let me tell you the kind of routine I have seen in these IT people. A typical day starts with an alarm shouting for the third time, after successfully postponing the first two calls. Then follows the morning rituals and well dressed bodies move out of the house holding ‘Times of India’ or ‘Deccan herald’. Get into the bus and you are done. You are into the ‘second sleeping innings’ now. More than an hour journey, the regular unavoidable traffic, cold breezy morning. With all these in action, what else can you think of! Of course, there are some people who try to grasp what is happening around them by holding newspapers in hand with Linkin Park or Pink Floyd put in background just to avoid the nuisance of Pori, Tapori rachana and the same Kannada song that plays at least thrice during their journey. When you are just about to have a dream, the same phone which started your day rings again, and your friend ask for something to be mailed him soon. Damn, you curse him a lot and open your bag, turn on the laptop, finish off the work and go to sleep cursing him again. You never know, when you will be in the same situation like your friend. The journey continues and you reach the office. A visit to the cafeteria, having a view at all good-looking woman colleagues and then coming back to your cabin, a regular sequence of events follows. Turn on the computer, fix the bugs, code, stare at the monitor, wait for lunchtime, wait for teatime .Somehow, the day will get over. By the time you come back home with ‘300% hike in traffic’ compared to morning, you are dead! (First and the most probable possibility)

Here comes the second set of people who come to earth with the aim of getting PhDs! While others are busy in studying for placements or thinking of what to do in the coming years, these people roam here and there for recommendation letters, transcripts. They try to develop a decent relationship with lecturers and Professors just with the aim of getting something good printed on an A4 size sheet, which can make a good impression in the foreign universities (?) and make them well settled in the future. Even though there is no guarantee that they return to India after their MS/MBA/MBBS (whatever), Ministry of External affairs (MEA, Government of India) has to issue a passport to them. Just to give you an example, it is an irony that 36% of the doctors in USA are Indians, on the other hand 64% of Indian villages do not even have a primary health care centers. However, I do respect people who go for higher studies because they have a clear idea about what they are doing and they want to become experts in their areas of interest. Let us keep it aside for a while.

Third group, seems little funny, but true! A frustrated set of students become evergreen hunters called ‘LECTURERS’. Generally, in professional courses students rarely depend on lecturers. So I think even they do not have to come prepared, they get a good salary, they can take revenge on all those students whom they feel are arrogant to them and the good things in the list continues. However, I do feel it is a good choice. Because, they really have the capability to brighten country’s future. What you say?
Now, let us come to my ideas. The first thing I would like to suggest you is to have a Xerox shop of our own near the college. Just think for a while, they are the people responsible for all our GPAs, scholarships, awards and in turn our placements. Those fellows only revealed all the show-off of prescribing foreign authors and then copying the same problem along with the same numbers and alphabets from a local author book. Moreover, if we open a Xerox shop we can clearly understand the problems of our juniors. Well, that is a dumb idea. I know people will throw stones at me if I suggest this idea. To do that there was no need to do a BE. So, how about getting into politics? Who knows, the very presence in the field can make us one among hundreds and hundreds of bloody corrupted set of people in the country. Not a good idea at all!

The best plan goes here:  Take a risk and start a company of your own. No matter what you name, all those were a start up companies once upon a time. It is just that it requires a gut feeling to do so. You need to have the guts to face failure. Do not go where there is a path, go instead where there is no path, and leave a trail.
‘THE JOURNEY OF THOUSAND MILES STARTS WITH A SINGLE STEP’!
Be yourself and move on!
Thinking I have written too much this time?????
See you soon....

  2. Nice. One strong reason to start a company is "employment", especially in India. The more the company grows, the more the people are employed. The more the people are employed, the more the company earns. The more the company earns, the more the government earns. The more the government earns, the more the system improves. The more the system improves, the more new companies start up, a chain reaction. Very similar to the saying, "one small spark can set a forest on fire". :)

  5. Excellent post! People need to 'create' rather than 'recreate'. I agree with you. We need to take risks to demonstrate our full potential for success.
